Which paper are we discussing?
TBA I have been meaning to taking a closer look at the "new" view of the microbial taxonomy based on their genomes which most/many of you might be aware of GTDB (https://gtdb.ecogenomic.org/about). As I have had experience and interest particularly in terms of archaea, I decided to take this opportunity to look into their recently published paper on archaeal taxonomy. I know that they had to go through a lot of trouble to pass this paper through classical archaeal taxonomists and got a lot of stick in the conferences whenever they presented this work! I am however excited for them that they managed to get this work published and look forward to presenting their work in the upcoming journal club.
