Preparations for the PhD students
Deadline Thursday June 16
Prepare a 5 min ppt presentation with 4 slides:
> One presenting yourself, your advisor, your PI, and other involved people in the project.
> One presenting your research question
> One with your available and planned data
> One presenting your current (bioinformatics) challenges
You don’t need to impress, this is an opportunity to get valuable feedback! This is a very short presentation, and the audience is broad, so this is a good exercise in quickly explaining your research in a clear and understandable way. I need the slides in advance so that we don’t loose time in changing computers.- For the meeting
Make sure that you bring material/slides/discussion points readily available for the small group discussions; it is up to you to prepare well to make these meetings valuable!
All meals in the schedule are included for free, other meals are covered and organised by the participants.

For the PhD students:
* Prepare a 10-15 min ppt presentation about your reserach project. You don’t need to impress, this is an opportunity to get valuable feedback! Focus on the research questions, how you plan to adress them, and what problems/challenges you have. This is a short presentation, and the audience is broad, so this is a good exercise in quickly explaining your research in a clear and understandable way. (Please send the pres to me at latest the day before so that we dont loose too much time in changing computers).
* Bring a poster about your research project (size dosent really matter, 70 x 100 or alike is fine, but we’ll make it work).
* Make sure that you have material/slides/discussion points readily available for the dicsussions at the Thursday sessions; it is up to you to prepare to make these meetings valuable.
For the PhD supervisors and advisors
:You basically don’t need to prepare anything, but these meetings obviously rely on your presence and that you participate actively in the discussions and create a positive and encouraging atmosphere to support the PhD students, and creates valuable connections.Meals
Practical notes
- All meals in the schedule are included for free, other meals are covered and organised by the participants.
- There will be a 10 min walk for lunch and a 20-30 min walk down to the city for dinner on Monday, so bring appropriate clothing
- Travel and accomodation is payed and organised by the participants.
