Welcome to the Swedish Bioinformatics Advisory Program!

High-throughput technologies are transforming the demands on scientists in genomics and other medical and biological research fields. As many research groups are in need of large-scale data analyses, we see a need to complement the traditional role of the supervisor with bioinformatics consulting directed towards PhD students. The SciLifeLab Bioinformatics platform (NBIS, www.nbis.se) offers a track where PhD students can get a senior bioinformatician as a personal advisor for up to two years of their PhD studies. We believe that the program will be an important part in building Swedish large-scale research competence in medicine and biology.

Students are admitted for 2 years, and the program is focused on feedback and advise and does not involve hands-on support.

Acknowledgements

We appreciate that you acknowledge your advisor in relevant publications, eg like so

“We would like to acknowledge NN at the National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden at SciLifeLab for bioinformatics advice.”

If appropriate, according to normal contribution criteria, the advisor should of course also be included as a co-author. Please remember to notify your advisor or the program coordinators about published articles related to the program, so that we can keep track, thanks!

Application and more info

Applications open once a year in the fall, for more info, please visit the SciLifeLab homepage for the program.
