Which paper are we discussing?
Million-year-old DNA sheds light on the genomic history of mammoths (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-021-03224-9)
I would like to focus on the use of phylogenomic methods and statistics to infer admixture on really long time scales (>1 million years). Do these methods actually work?
Related to that I will present the following 2 preprints, which argue that the statistics to infer Neanderthal-introgression into modern humans are inherently flawed.
